AFL Teams wrap: Carlton wield the axe, Eagles make five changes

Jarrad Waite, Jeff Garlett, Simon White and Tom Bell have been dumped as the Blues face off with Melbourne on Saturday afternoon.

Draftee Patrick Cripps will make his debut and Carlton have recalled Heath Scotland, Kane Lucas and Levi Casboult.

Chris Dawes will play his first game of the season for the Demons after being named along with Jordie McKenzie with Shannon Byrnes and Jack Fitzpatrick making way. Jack Trengove will play VFL for the second week in a row.

Richmond have omitted Jake King and Orren Stephenson and lost Ricky Petterd to a groin injury for Friday's blockbuster against Collingwood, with Shaun Hampson, Matthew Arnot and mature-age debutant Sam Lloyd the inclusions.

For the Magpies, Jarrod Witts and Josh Thomas Come in for Taylor Adams (Suspension) and Sam Dwyer (knee).

Meanwhile, Hawthorn captain Luke Hodge and Geelong backman seasoned Corey Enright will make their returns on Saturday night. The Cats also regain Taylor Hunt from suspension for their clash against West Coast.

They will face a revamped Eagles side at Simonds Stadium, with Sam Butler, Josh Hill, Sharrod Wellingham, Scott Lycett and Dom Sheed coming in for Darren Glass (hip), Mark LeCras (arm), Chris Masten (hamstring), Luke Shuey (suspended) and Callum Sinclair.

The Suns have called up to replace Jack Hutchins the suspended Brandon Matera ahead of their clash against the Hawks at Metricon Stadium.

Port Adelaide will be without star forward star forwards Chad Wingard (Ankle) and Angus Monfries (Hamstring) for their clash with the Lions on Saturday afternoon.

The Power have left John Butcher out of the side, bringing in Cam O'Shea, Aaron Young and elevated Rookie Sam Gray. Teenagers Nick Robertson and Tom Cutler Will make their debuts for Brisbane, while former Magpie Jackson Paine plays his first game for his new club.

Western Bulldogs have brought back Koby Stevens, Jason Tutt and Tom Young but are without Jordan Roughead (Shoulder), Jason Johannisen (omitted) and Luke Dahlhaus (calf).

For the Sunday games, St Kilda have included club champion Jack Steven in their Squad to face Adelaide.

Tom Lee, Josh Bruce and Jack Billings are also in the 25 while Cam Ellis-Yolmen could debut for the Crows.

Fremantle have included Colin Sylvia for their twilight clash against Essendon.

The Bombers, who named veterans Paul Chapman and Dustin Fletcher, have included youngster Dylan Van Unen, Travis Colyer and Leroy Jetta.

Michael Firrito, Robbie Nahas, Liam Anthony and Joel Tippett are among those in line to replace injured North Melbourne Defender Jamie Macmillan (leg) in the club's clash with the Sydney Swans.

Craig Bird, Dean Towers and Toby Nankervis have been named on an extended Swans interchange bench.
