Wimbledon champion Djokovic targets World Tour Finals defence

Djokovic secured his second Wimbledon crown on Sunday, defeating Roger Federer 6-7 (7-9) 6-4 7-6 (7-4) 5-7 6-4 in an enthralling final at the All England Club.

That triumph ended a run of three grand slam final defeats for Djokovic, who has overtaken Rafael Nadal to occupy top spot in the ATP rankings as a result.

By winning his first slam since last year's Australian Open, the Serbian also booked his place at the ATP World Tour Finals, where he will go in search of a fourth crown - and third in succession - in November.

"It feels great not only to win Wimbledon again but also to return to number one in the rankings," he told the ATP website.

"I got to number one for the first time in my career after winning Wimbledon in 2011 so it is nice to do it again here. I can't wait to return to London to defend the ATP [World Tour] Finals title.

"I have had a good run there in the past two years. I really enjoy playing at The O2."
