While Kyrgios’ fourth round exit at the hands of Frenchman Richard Gasquet was strange to say the least, one of the weirdest moments of the match came in the third set on Court 2 at the All England Club.

“I just felt like a hug,” Kyrgios said of his bizarre encounter with a ball boy, with the 20-year-old Australian hugging the boy in between points.

“I guess everyone now and then wants a hug. I thought he embraced me a bit,” Kyrgios said.

The ball boy did give Kyrgios a small hug back, but the awkward exchange was just the tip of the iceberg for Kyrgios’ cringeworthy behaviour throughout the fourth round encounter, which saw him swear, argue and whinge his way to a 7-5, 6-1, 6-7 (7-9), 7-6 (8-6) loss.
