Down 5-0 in the first set against compatriot Bethanie Mattek-Sands, Vandeweghe's anger levels spiralled out of control as she demolished her racquet courtside.
Mattek-Sands revealed afterwards she had "fun" watching Vandeweghe give the racquet a painful death.
