Viktor Troicki was almost lost for words after defeating Michael Llodra to capture the Davis Cup for Serbia on Sunday.

A surprise selection ahead of Janko Tipsarevic to contest the last singles match, Troicki produced an extraordinary performance to win 6-2 6-2 6-3 in the deciding fifth rubber.

The honour of securing Serbia's first Davis Cup triumph in front of a home crowd in Belgrade nearly proved too much for the 24-year-old.

"This is unbelievable," Troicki told Sky Sports.

"I don't know how to react, what to do. This is the best moment of my life. I am in shock. After the last shot I really couldn't believe that this happened."

"I think for the next few days I will still feel a little bit different."

"It will be maybe five days until I will feel the real expression and the real feeling of this win."

"This is the most intense pressure ever in my life and to win it in front of my home crowd I think is the best possible way."

"I don't have any words, seriously ... it's unbelievable. I don't have the words."

Earlier, world No.3 Novak Djokovic beat Gael Monfils 6-2 6-2 6-4 to level the contest at 2-2 and set up Troicki to take the plaudits.

"This is the best moment of my career and probably of my nation," Djokovic said.

"This is like winning the World Cup for us."

"It was unbelievable today. Under the circumstances, maybe one of the best matches I have played this year. It was definitely a lot of pressure, expectations."

Serbia captain Bogdan Obradovic was already looking ahead to next year's defence of the trophy.

"My players showed that they are mentally the strongest team in the world," Obradovic said.

"We showed we are number one. I want to congratulate my team. They did very, very good - especially in the third day."

"My team can hopefully do this again next year. This was really tough. We managed somehow for the second match in a row to win twice on the third day."
