The top seeds will meet in the final of the WTA Monterrey Open after Jelena Jankovic and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova both won on Saturday.

Number one seed Jankovic defeated eighth seed Polona Hercog 6-3 6-2 in one hour and 10 minutes of their semi-final at the Sierra Madre Tennis Club.

Serbian Jankovic is 56 places above Slovakian Hercog in the rankings and her superiority was evident as she broke the 20-year-old three times without giving up her own serve.

Defending champion Pavlyuchenkova also booked her place in the final with relative ease.

The second seed needed just one hour and eight minutes to brush aside Argentine Gisela Dulko 6-4 6-1.

Russian Pavlyuchenkova, 19, is seven years Dulko's junior, but 37 places higher than the doubles specialist in the rankings.

As in the other semi, Pavlyuchenkova's class was telling as she broke Dulko five times and only lost her own serve once.

Pavlyuchenkova, who beat Daniela Hantuchova in the 2010 final, has a 1-0 career record against Jankovic.

The Russian won their only previous meeting 6-4 6-4 at Indian Wells in 2009.
