Tomas Berdych is feeling confident after making what he described as "the best possible start" to his French Open campaign.
Berdych cruised to a 6-0, 7-5, 6-3 win over Japanese qualifier Yoshihito Nishioka in the first round at Roland Garros on Monday.

The No. 4 ranked player will now face fellow Czech Radek Stepanek.
Berdych has never won a grand slam, though he did reach the final of Wimbledon in 2010. He came into the tournament having impressed during the clay-court season, reaching the final in Monte Carlo last month.
"I just came into the tournament after very, very good weeks on the clay, which is very important to me," Berdych said. "I've been playing a lot of matches, winning a lot of them and also between those weeks I had a very good preparation so everything has been aimed for this tournament.
"I definitely want to go and do well. My main focus is being ready and being prepared for every match that is waiting for me. I'm feeling well, I'm feeling physically strong and that is the best possible start that I can have."
When asked about his ongoing wait for a grand slam success, Berdych added, "There is a fact there are other guys who have grand slam titles that I don't have. The only thing I can do about it is try to change that.
"I'm feeling generally quite happy and quite good about my tennis."
