The Czech third seed and Wimbledon champion said she was just glad to get through against her countrywoman Cetkovska.

Kvitova converted four of 15 break points but was largely untroubled by Cetkovska, who committed 25 unforced errors.

But it was a matter of just getting through for Kvitova early in the final grand slam of the year.

"It's always great. Czech girls is never easy. I was very nervous before the match. Yeah, I was really tired, so some of the games I tried to push what I can," Kvitova said.

"I wasn't really relaxed, for example, as first round. Still, it's the beginning of the tournament. It's always tough. I'm just glad that I'm through.

"It was little bit of fight again today, so I'm glad for that."

The tricky and changing conditions were also a challenge for Kvitova, who faces Serbian Aleksandra Krunic in the third round.

Kvitova said she was pleased with how she dealt with the difficulties.

"It was windy. Our court start with the shade and it was slowly to cover all the court. Sometimes I couldn't really see the serve," she said.

"You know, sometimes when it's going from the sun to shade, it's not really visible. I'm just glad I did it how I did, and that's important."
