Jo-Wilfried Tsonga's run of form came to an end on Tuesday with a straight-sets defeat to Radek Stepanek at the Aegon International.

After losing to Andy Murray in a delayed final of the Queen's Club Championships on Monday, Frenchman Tsonga arrived in Eastbourne seeded first for the Wimbledon warm-up event.

But he bowed out in the second round with a comprehensive 6-2 6-3 defeat at the hands of Czech veteran Stepanek.

Ranked 38 places below world number 19 Tsonga, Stepanek did not concede so much as a single break-point opportunity in the match, while breaking his opponent four times to win in just 59 minutes.

The 32-year-old will now play either Kei Nishikori or Rainer Schuettler, who were among several players to have their second-round matches suspended due to heavy rain in southern England.

In other matches, Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov produced an upset, beating sixth seed South African Kevin Anderson 6-3 6-2 in just 60 minutes.

Dimitrov will now play either Janko Tipsarevic or Mikhail Kukushkin, who also fell foul of the weather.

Russian Igor Kunitsyn needed three sets to see off Ukrainian lucky loser Illya Marchenko, ultimately winning 6-3 1-6 6-2.

He will now take on Julien Benneteau after the Frenchman battled past Indian Somdev Devvarman 7-6 (7-1) 6-7 (6-8) 6-3.

Italian Andreas Seppi had too much for American Donald Young, beating the qualifier 7-6 (7-1) 6-3.

Seppi will now await the outcome of Carlos Berlocq's rain-affected match against Olivier Rochus before determining his next opponent.
