Sam Stosur will have to wait to learn whether she faces Sara Errani or Karin Knapp in the final of the Nurnberger Gastein Ladies as rain played havoc with Saturday's semi-final schedule.
The elements caused a delay to the start of play at the clay-court event in Austria, but when the action started second seed Stosur triumphed 6-1 7-5 over Anna Karolina Schmiedlova.
Stosur needed little over half an hour to wrap up a dominant first set, but found herself a break and 3-0 down in the second.
However, the Australian fought back to reel off five straight games from 5-2 down and will now attempt to win a second WTA title of the season after triumphing in Strasbourg earlier this year.
The rain returned later in the day, though, meaning the all-Italian clash between top seed Errani and Knapp, seeded third, will be played on Sunday ahead of the final.
