Having got under way on Monday, the ATP 250 clay competition was curtailed on Tuesday with heavy rain ensuring a complete washout at the event in Germany.

"All Tuesday matches cancelled at [the] MercedesCup due to rain," the ATP stated via their official Twitter account.

Federico Delbonis and Leonardo Mayer were among the more high-profile names to ensure their progression on the opening day.

Guillermo Garcia-Lopez and Santiago Giraldo, seeded sixth and seventh respectively, were due to open their campaign on Tuesday.

However, their clashes with Marco Cecchinato and Mate Delic will have to wait, with top seed Fabio Fognini's opener against Andrey Golubev on Wednesday potentially being put back also.
