Lengthy rain delays could not put top seed Karolina Pliskova off her stride as she saw off Annika Beck in the Prague Open first round on Tuesday.

The start of the day's play was pushed back by three hours, resulting in Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Lucie Hradecka's meeting being pushed back to Wednesday, along with Lucie Safarova and Tereza Smitkova's all-Czech clash to leave home fans disappointed.

Pliskova was first on court, overcoming Beck 2-6 6-1 6-3 once the courts had been dried off.

Barbora Strycova and Klara Koukalova secured further Czech success with respective straight-sets victories over Madison Brengle and Julia Goerges.

Croatian 17-year-old Ana Konjuh overcame Belinda Bencic in an epic encounter, eventually prevailing 7-5 6-7 (6-8) 7-6 (7-3) after two hours 45 minutes on court.

Tsvetana Pironkova had an easier time of things, beating Olga Govortsova 7-5 6-1, while Danka Kovinic was a 6-2 2-6 6-4 winner over Monica Niculescu.
