The 20-year-old has made waves around the world with his unusual behaviour during his 2015 Wimbledon campaign - eventually ended at the hands of Frenchman Richard Gasquet in the fourth round.

Addressing Fairfax Media after his All England club exit, Kyrgios admitted to thinking about walking away from tennis while also questioning his passion for the sport.

"For sure you have those doubts and those thoughts,” Kyrgios said when asked if he has considered quitting.

"I definitely don’t love the sport. I like it to a degree, but I don’t love it."

The world No.29 has regularly made the headlines in the past week with accusations he 'tanked' against Gasquet before four-time Olympic gold medallist Dawn Fraser aimed racist comments at the Australian of Greek heritage.

Comments in the press and social media have questioned whether Kyrgios should represent Australia, slamming him for his eccentric behaviour.

Kyrgios admitted it was 'tough' to read the comments and was adamant critics have the wrong idea about him.

“It’s been tough for me waking up everyday with negative messages,” Kyrgios said.

“People don’t really know what goes on in my life. I’ve read a lot of what’s been said about me.

"Comments like ‘he shouldn’t be representing Australia’, ‘he’s a disgrace’.

“It’s tough to read. I’m human. I don’t really want them to love me. I don’t want their love, but everyone deserves respect.

"I don’t write bad tweets about anyone else. I don’t say anything bad about anyone else. I’m not this person everyone thinks I am."

Kyrgios is expected to represent Australia in the Davis Cup quarter final against Kazakhstan in Darwin on July 17-19.
