MORE: Tomic dumped from Davis Cup for 'unacceptable' behaviour

News Corp was reportedly told by Tomic's father John that Kyrgios had sent text messages to Tennis Australia informing them of his decision to not play Davis Cup in support of Bernard.

Kyrgios attempted to quash the rumour soon after with a post on his Facebook account.

As a proud Australian it's a pleasure and privilege to be able to represent my country in Davis Cup. As long as I'm able, fit and healthy, It's an opportunity I will never pass up. #Darwin #DavisCup

"As a proud Australian it’s a pleasure and privilege to be able to represent my country in Davis Cup," Kyrgios said.

"As long as I’m able, fit and healthy, It’s an opportunity I will never pass up. #‎Darwin."

The denial is a boost for Australia with the Davis Cup quarter-final against Kazakhstan occuring in Darwin next week.

Having Kyrgios and Tomic not available would mean the likes of Sam Groth and Thanasi Kokkinakis would be thrust into action.

Tomic first stoked the fire about Kyrgios' possible withdrawal on Friday after Tennis Australia announced his sacking over 'disrespectful' comments.

"It’s interesting what’s happened the last week that Nick wasn’t going to play as well," Tomic said.

"You know, I was not going to play. He said: ‘If you don’t play, I don’t play’.

"It was interesting now looking at this; we are in the quarter-finals of a stage, and we are sort of about to pull the pin.

"There is a lot of stuff that’s involved now that I’m very disappointed in."
