The Spaniard will return in Abu Dhabi for a competition which commences on New Year's day and then plans to play in the ATP Tour event in Doha the following week.

"I will play in Abu Dhabi in January, and after that I will play my first official tournament in Doha." said the 28-year-old.

World number one Novak Djokovic, Australian Open champion Stanislas Wawrinka and Andy Murray are among the other players who are due to feature in Abu Dhabi.
