Rafael Nadal dropped to his lowest ATP ranking since June 2013 following his third-round exit to Fernando Verdasco at the Miami Open.

Nadal falls two places to fifth after Andy Murray and Kei Nishikori both jumped ahead of them after getting to the latter stages of the ATP 1000 event.

Murray – who lost the final to world number one Novak Djokovic – moves into third, while quarter-finalist Nishikori holds a narrow advantage over the Spaniard in fourth.

John Isner is the big mover after reaching the last four, the big-serving American moving back into the top 20 after a five place leap.

In the women's game, Miami champion Serena Williams continues to lead the way in an unchanged top seven, but there is a new name in the top 10.

For the first time in her career Carla Suarez Navarro has broken through that barrier, although it may be little consolation after her humbling against Williams in Saturday's final – she lost 6-2 6-0.
