Second seed Mayr-Achleitner was on court for less than an hour at the WTA 125 event in China, defeating home favourite Zhu Ai Wen 6-1 6-0.

Zhu, the world number 1146, is ranked some 1061 places below her Austrian opponent and the gulf in class was evident throughout as Mayr-Achleitner surrendered just three first-serve points.

The 27-year-old can now look forward to a second-round clash with Yuan Yi or Magda Linette at the hard-court event.

However, fifth seed Pervak will not be joining her after she was beaten 6-3 6-4 by Duan Ying-ying.

Duan, 36 places below the Russian in the rankings, won 72 per cent of first-serve points on the way to victory.

Cagla Buyukakcay, seeded sixth, was also a surprise casualty. The match went the distance in a back-and-forth clash before Lyudmyla Kichenok triumphed 7-6 (7-3) 3-6 7-6 (7-3).

There was no such trouble for eighth seed and wildcard Zheng Saisai, the Chinese comfortably came through her tie with Nigina Abduraimova 6-4 6-2 and faces an all-China clash with either Yang Zhaoxuan or Li Yixuan in round two.
