Jovanovski to meet Knapp in final

The top seed for the WTA International hard-court event, Jovanovski had been forced into a deciding set in each of her three matches leading up to her last-four clash with Nigina Abduraimova.

She had no such troubles against the home hope, however, coming through 6-4 7-5 to reach her fifth WTA Tour final.

Reigning champion Jovanovski was impressive on her first serve in the opening set, winning 87 per cent of the points and despite sending down more double faults and less aces than her opponent, was able to edge in front after breaking the Uzbek in game seven.

The second set was a topsy-turvy affair, with Jovanovski looking well-set to clinch her triumph when she moved into a 4-1 lead after a double break.

World number 189 Abudraimova hit back, though, and managed to level at 5-5.

But she could not delight the home crowd by forcing a decider as Jovanovski broke in game 11 and served out to reach Sunday's final.

She will meet Knapp, who reached her second WTA Tour final with a routine 6-3 6-3 success over Lesia Tsurenko.

The third seed took the initiative with a break in game eight of the opening set, and had to save three break points in the next before eventually holding to move one set in front.

In the second, Knapp sent down three aces to Tsurenko's none in racing into a 4-1 lead before clinching the win on her first available match point.
