The Serb had the biggest win on the opening day of the competition in Manila, winning 6-0 in her singles match with Kristina Mladenovic.

Ivanovic's success enabled her team to record a 26-16 victory and earn the first four points, and they held on to top spot after the day's second match.

Rohan Bopanna and Sania Mirza gave the Indian Aces a strong start with a 6-4 win in the mixed doubles, and Fabrice Santoro added another victory over Patrick Rafter.

The Indian Aces' only loss on Friday came in the men's doubles as Nick Kyrgios and Tomas Berdych beat Gael Monfils and Bopanna 6-2, giving them hope of victory in the tie.

However, Ivanovic wrestled control back with a comprehensive display against Daniela Hantuchova, while Monfils completed the overall win with a 6-1 triumph over Lleyton Hewitt in the men's singles.

Marin Cilic and his coach Goran Ivanisevic starred in the second game as the UAE Royals collected four points, beating Andy Murray's Manila Mavericks 29-24.

A close fought match saw the momentum swing between both sides, but eventually it was Cilic who completed the victory as he beat Murray 6-5 (7-3).

Ivanisevic's tie-break victory over Carlos Moya added to a win in the mixed doubles for the Royals, who won overall despite losing the men's doubles.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Treat Huey gave the Mavericks their first win, and Maria Sharapova ensured the match went to a deciding set after beating Mladenovic 6-5 (7-3).

However, Murray was unable to complete the comeback as Cilic powered his way to victory to put the Aces top of the pile after the opening round of fixtures.
