"I'm not racist at all" - Dawn Fraser

Fraser Kyrgios

More: Dawn Fraser's racist rant

Fraser caused a massive outcry when she said Kyrgios and Tomic should “go back to where their parents came from,” after the Aussie tennis pair’s antics at Wimbledon.

“They should be setting an example for the younger generation of the country, a great country of ours,” said Fraser on Channel 9’s The Today Show on Tuesday morning.

“If they don’t like it, go back to where their fathers or their parents came from.”

Fraser copped a huge backlash from all quarters after her tirade, but says she was just misinterpreted.

“I don’t think I created a storm, I think the storm was created before me,” she told Fairfax media.

“I’m not a racist person, if you take it that way then I'm sorry that you take it that way, but I'm not racist at all.

"I said, 'If they don't want to be Australians then maybe they should go back to the country where their parents come from'. That's not being racist.

"I can see it being interpreted that way ... but it wasn't intended that way.

"I said they were not good Australians by behaving the way they are on court. Do you think they are?

"He's just bad mannered; he's just a bad sport.

“The boys are behaving disgracefully as far as sportsmen are concerned, they're not setting a good example for children that follow them.

"I wasn't overly impressed with their attitude. If you're going to be an Australian sportswoman or man you've got to be proud of your country and that's what I said - be proud to wear the Australian crest on your chest because you're playing for your country.

"I have never been booed in a competition, those people paid a lot of money to watch him play."
