The Belgian has enjoyed a fine year on the ATP Tour and his victory in Metz on Sunday was his second title of the season after he triumphed in Kitzbuhel in July.

Since losing to Andy Murray at Wimbledon, Goffin has compiled a 17-2 record at Tour-level events and his 6-4 6-3 triumph over Joao Sousa helped him climb 13 places.

Sousa himself enjoys a small jump of three places and he now sits at world number 36.

Germany's Jan-Lennard Struff, who was defeated by Goffin in the Moselle Open semi-finals, climbs nine spots to 52.

Novak Djokovic is still world number one in an unchanged top 10, while Andy Murray climbs above Jo-Wilfried Tsonga into 11th.

Monica Niculescu's success at the Guangzhou Open propels her 19 places from world number 60 to 41 in the WTA world rankings, while Karolina Pliskova is up one to 31 after winning the Korea Open.

Serena Williams remains top of the pile, while Caroline Wozniacki reaches world number seven after her run to the final of the Pan Pacific Open.
