The Spaniard won his first ATP World Tour title since prevailing at the Thailand Open in 2010, and moved to world number 38 as a result.

The 30-year-old - who was playing compatriot Marcel Granollers - came from behind to claim a 5-7 6-4 6-3 triumph at the ATP 250 clay-court event in Casablanca.

Romania's Victor Hanescu, who reached the quarter-finals of the same event, moves up 13 places to world number 76, while Santiago Giraldo's run to the US Clay Court Tennis Championship semi-finals sees him climb 17 places to 67th.

Fernando Verdasco's win at the American tournament moved him from 28th to 25th.

There was minimal movement in the top 10, with John Isner dropping to 11th, allowing Richard Gasquet and Milos Raonic to move to ninth and 10th respectively.

Rafael Nadal remains at the top of the rankings, with the top eight unchanged.

In the WTA rankings, which Serena Williams tops, Italian Camila Giorgi went from 69th to 54th after reaching the Katowice Open final. Tournament winner Alize Cornet moved up one place to 21st.

Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia was also a big mover, going up 23 places to 51st after beating Jelena Jankovic to win her maiden WTA Tour title at the Claro Open Colsanitas.
