Foran was everywhere for the Sea Eagles throughout the hard-fought clash.

He was confined to the couch on Friday but somehow found the energy to make the break that set up Brett Stewart's 68th-minute match winner.

"There's a bad flu going right through the community in general so we had a couple of blokes miss the limited training we had last week as well and Kieran came down with the flu fairly heavily a couple of days ago," Toovey said.

"A couple of days ago maybe (he was in doubt to play) but I think you'd have to lock him in his house to keep him away from the field.

"I thought he was probably unlucky not to score a couple of tries himself there.

"He made a couple of half breaks and obviously they watched us play and they were concentrating on our outside backs who are in some great form on both sides of the field so if you concentrate too much on them he's going to make a few breaks."

Foran was quick to play down the illness when he fronted the media after the game.

"I wasn't that bad, I was fine. I just had a bit of a chest infection there," he said.

"I was coughing up heaps of crap and got on the antibiotics and I was fine – just plenty of fluids and I was fine."

He said of his role in Stewart's late try: "It was just a crucial game, there wasn't much in it and you just knew that something was going to give sooner rather than later.

"We were either going to give and they were going to slice through and even the game up or we were going to get away and get that buffer.

"We were just waiting for it and Jamie Buhrer did a great job to flip the ball up and Snake (Brett Stewart) does what he does best, he just pushes through so it was a big effort tonight."

Meanwhile, Broncos skipper Justin Hodges revealed the hamstring injury that forced him from the field in the 29th minute isn't serious.

"I think it's just a grade one (strain)," Hodges said.

"I just came out of dummy half and stepped. It's been pretty good all year and it's a bit of a pain to pick one up now but hopefully I'll just miss a week, it's not too bad."
