Top seed Ferrer, who beat second seed Murray en route to the last eight of the Shanghai Masters last week, made short work of Tobias Kamke, overcoming the German 7-5 6-1.
"The first set was difficult. Only after I won that set did I play better - a more solid and more consistent game," Ferrer said.
Meanwhile, Murray secured his spot in the quarters with a 6-4 6-4 victory over Canadian Vasek Pospisil.
Having taken the first set the British world number 11 let slip a 3-1 lead in the second, but recovered to break Pospisil for a third time and then set up a clash with Jan-Lennard Struff of Germany, who beat Ukrainian Sergiy Stakhovsky in a three-set contest that lasted two hours and 25 minutes.
Two seeds did exit the ATP 250 hard-court tournament, though, as Feliciano Lopez and Lukas Rosol both crashed out.
Third-seeded Spaniard Lopez threw away a one-set lead in a 6-7 (9-11) 6-1 6-4 defeat to Thomaz Bellucci, while Czech fifth seed Rosol was defeated in just 54 minutes by Serbian qualifier Viktor Troicki.
Troicki sent down 12 aces in a 6-3 6-2 triumph to reach his second quarter-final in four weeks.
Elsewhere in the draw Benjamin Becker cruised to a 6-3 6-3 success over Robin Haase.
