Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova will not feature at the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells next week after withdrawing through exhaustion.

The world number four enjoyed a successful 2014 with her second grand slam title, consistent performances on tour and victory with Czech Republic in the Fed Cup.

Kvitova made an impressive start to this year with a semi-final in Shenzhen and final in Sydney, but she went out in the third round at the Australian Open.

Since then she has only competed in two tournaments and was set to feature at the WTA Premier event in California for a seventh successive year.

"I am extremely disappointed to have to withdraw from the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, one of my favourite tournaments on the calendar," she announced on her official website.

"Unfortunately I have been feeling exhausted on the court in recent weeks and unable to compete at 100 per cent. I will therefore be taking some time out in order to rest and restore my energy levels for the rest of the season.

"The fans in Indian Wells are fantastic and I am really looking forward to being back there to play in front of them next year."

Kvitova's best performance at Indian Wells saw her reach the quarter-finals in 2013, but she was unable to build on it last year when she was beaten in the fourth round by Dominika Cibulkova.
