Dominant Djokovic extends winning run in Beijing

The world number one was at his imperious best in Beijing, seeing off Berdych in just over an hour to clinch victory in the ATP 500 hard-court event for the fifth time.

Djokovic first won the event in 2009 and successfully defended his crown 12 months later before missing the 2011 tournament, which was won by Berdych.

The Serb returned to seal the title in 2012 and 2013, and made it a hat-trick of consecutive wins with a stunning triumph over his Czech opponent.

Djokovic romped to the first set in 30 minutes, breaking Berdych at every available opportunity with a selection of unerring groundstrokes.

The stats bore out Djokovic's dominance, with the Serb winning 71 per cent of points on his first serve, compared to just 45 for Berdych.

The Czech failed to force a single break point in that opening set, while his opponent took advantage of three of the four on offer to him.

It looked as though Berdych was heading for a humiliating double bagel defeat at 5-0 down in the second but, after saving a match point, he finally got on the board with a break of serve in game six.

After making it 5-2 by holding to love, Berdych saved two more championship points against the Djokovic serve, but the world number one closed out the victory when Berdych sent a forehand return into the net.
