Jelena Dokic continued her career resurgence on Sunday, reaching her first WTA Tour final since 2003 at the Malaysian Open.

The 27-year-old Australian showed signs of the form that carried her to no.4 in the world back in 2003 as she dismantled Michaella Krajicek - the half-sister of former Wimbledon champion Richard - 6-2 6-3 to secure a place in the Kuala Lumpur final.

It was Dokic's first semi-final appearance since she made the last four at the Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo in 2004, but she showed few nerves to book her first final appearance since Zurich in 2003.

Her opponent in the final will be Lucie Safarova, who had to fight hard to beat Australian Jarmila Groth 6-2 3-6 6-3 in just over two hours in the second semi-final.

Dokic - who eliminated top seed and world no.5 Francesca Schiavone in the first round - has already enjoyed a win over Safarova in 2011, beating the 35th-ranked Czech 4-6 6-3 6-4 in Paris last month.

''I played a couple of good games at the end of the first set, and she made a couple of errors,'' Dokic said.

''The tie-break I think was crucial, I played a really good tie-break, and that was the key to the whole match.''
