Former world No.4 Jelena Dokic has been granted a wildcard for January's Brisbane International.

Dokic joins countrywomen Samantha Stosur, Jarmila Groth and Anastasia Rodionova in the 32-player main draw.

It will be the 27-year-old's third appearance at the January event and offers her a chance to banish the memory of a less than memorable 2010 campaign.

Tournament director Steve Ayles has backed Dokic to be a drawcard attraction in the Sunshine State.

"Jelena has been a wonderful competitor in the tournament in recent years and she is a crowd favourite in Brisbane," Ayles said.

"Jelena is a passionate player and will be a real surprise card in the draw. When she is playing well she is capable of beating anyone."

In 2009, Dokic used the Brisbane International as the springboard for a season that saw her return to the top 100 on the back of an Australian Open quarter-final appearance.

World No.6 Stosur is the top-ranked player in the women's draw, while the men's field features three top 10 players in Robin Soderling (5), defending champion Andy Roddick (8) and Fernando Verdasco (9).
