Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from Serbia's David Cup first-round World Group tie with India in order to focus on his ATP Tour commitments.

The world No.3 announced he will skip India's visit to the indoor hard courts at Novi Sad this weekend, opting instead to head to California and prepare for the upcoming BNP Paribas Open and Sony Ericsson Open.

Australian Open champion Djokovic failed to make the quarter-finals in either of the tournaments last year, and is determined make amends and continue his unbeaten start to 2011.

"I feel physically well, fit, and mentally motivated to do even more coming up to Indian Wells and Miami where I haven't done well in the last years," a Djokovic statement read.

"I really want to work hard and get some good results in the US."

Serbia will be represented by three other members of last year's championship-winning team - Viktor Troicki, Janko Tipsarevic and Nenad Zimonjic.

Somdev Devvarman, Karan Rastogi, Yuki Bhambri and Rohan Bopanna will make up the visiting Indian team.
