Novak Djokovic will meet Tomas Berdych in the Monte Carlo Masters final after beating eight-time champion Rafael Nadal on Saturday.

The top seed produced a stunning display to end Nadal's quest for a ninth title with a 6-3 6-3 win, while Berdych overcame the challenge of Gael Monfils 6-1 6-4 in the other semi-final.

Victory over Nadal sees Djokovic extend his winning streak to 16 matches, and remain on course for a fourth successive Masters title.

He won the title at the BNP Paribas Masters at the end of 2014 and completed a third Indian Wells-Miami double last month.

The world number one made a shaky start as Nadal took the opening game against the serve, but it was not long before Djokovic hit form, as he produced some fine groundstrokes that had too much power for his opponent.

Having levelled at 2-2, the Serb started to play with a flourish and took the final three games to move ahead, converting his third set point to seize the advantage.

After some stunning tennis from both men at the start of the second, the semi-final hinged on a crucial break in the seventh from Djokovic.

Some sensational hitting from the baseline opened up the opportunity, and he finished the match with another break to set up a final with Berdych.

"Even when I was a break down in the first set I kept a winning mentality," Djokovic said afterwards. "I stayed focused."

Earlier, sixth seed Berdych had settled into his rhythm quickly against Monfils and was already break up by the fourth game - reeling off five games in a row to dominate the Frenchman.

Monfils' serve continued to trouble him at the start of the second, with Berdych capitalising to break twice as he booked his spot in Sunday's showpiece.
