Djokovic quells Berdych

Novak Djokovic has avenged his Wimbledon semi-final loss to Tomas Berdych with a win over the Czech at the World Tour Finals in London.

The Serb made just a handful of mistakes as he accounted for an out-of-form Berdych 6-3 6-3 in 88 minutes before an appreciative English crowd on Monday.

The opening Group A clash at the season-ending tournament was a re-match of their encounter in the same city just four months ago, but this time the venue was the indoor hard court of the O2 Arena and not the grass of SW19 and Djokovic turned a straight-sets defeat at Wimbledon into a straightforward victory.

The third seed broke the Berdych serve three times and did not hand his sixth-seeded opponent a break-point opportunity for the duration of the match.

Djokovic will undoubtedly have tougher competition in fellow Group B competitors Rafael Nadal and Andy Roddick as he attempts to qualify for the semi-finals of the lucrative tournament.

The season finale will not be the last time Djokovic will competitively take to the court in 2010, as he will use his form from London as a springboard to his quest to win the Davis Cup with Serbia against France when the final is played in December.
