Close your eyes and pray when you face Nemani Nadolo

16:9. Nemani Nadolo of the Crusaders

Scoles gave away 50kg and 14cm when he lined up against Randwick's Nadolo in Sydney's club rugby competition – and lived to tell the story, striking a blow for every David facing his Goliath.

The former Manly winger, weighing all of 75kg and standing 180cm, was given the job of halting the 125kg, 194cm Nadolo.

He avoided being road-kill by mixing a bit of cunning with courage.

"You can't take him front on or you will just get bumped off. Maybe try to give him the sideline and go right around the ankles from the side or just behind him on an angle," Scoles told us from New Zealand where he now dines out on tales of felling the Crusaders beast.

"He got me a couple of times and I got bumped off but I also got him down a couple of times.

"He would pretty much pat me on the head when I did tackle him and say 'well done'."

A former Waratah, Nadolo has tortured some of the world's best wingers during the Super Rugby season, scoring 11 tries to sit one behind leading try-scorer Israel Folau.

Asked if he had any further advice for Alofa, who will mark Nadolo in the Super decider at ANZ Stadium, Scoles quipped: "Close your eyes and pray.

"It doesn't surprise me he has succeeded. He always had a bit of class to go with his size.

"The Waratahs never should have let him go."

They might be thinking the exact same thing come 9.30 Saturday night.
