Cibulkova destroyed her opponent from Chinese Taipei, the Slovakian wrapping up a 6-1 6-2 win in just one hour and 13 minutes to set up a clash with Kazakhstan's Zarina Diyas.

The world number 10 was never in danger against Hsieh, who won just 30 per cent of points on her first serve as she succumbed to the evidently superior quality of Cibulkova.

Third seed Karolina Pliskova won in similarly emphatic fashion as she hammered Chinese qualifier Duan Ying-Ying 6-1 6-3.

Czech Pliskova was in stunning form throughout a contest that lasted a mere one hour and four minutes, keeping hopes of a second career WTA title intact.

Pliskova will face Tunisian Cagla Buyukakcay in the next round following her 6-4 6-4 success against Slovenia's Tadeja Majeric.

However, her twin sister Kristyna Pliskova has been eliminated from the WTA International hard-court tournament after losing 1-6 6-3 7-5 to Croatian teenager Donna Vekic.

Vekic recovered from a dismal showing in the opening set to fight back superbly and seal a last-eight clash with Austrian Patricia Mayr-Achleitner.

Chinese second seed Zhang Shuai was made to work hard to overcome namesake Zhang Ling of Hong Kong, but produced a fine performance in the final set to win 6-3 4-6 6-0 and secure a meeting with Poland's Magda Linette.
