Bouchard tops the bill in Austria

EugenieBouchard

The 20-year-old Canadian comes into the WTA International hard-court event aiming to reach her fourth tour final.

Bouchard lost out to Petra Kvitova in the Wuhan Open showpiece last weekend, in a repeat of the Wimbledon final from earlier in the year.

The world number seven fared less well in this week's China Open, exiting in the second round to Sabine Lisicki, but Angelique Kerber's defeat to Svetlana Kuznetsova means Bouchard's place in the WTA Finals is secure.

Victory in Linz would provide a fillip for Bouchard, whose only title to date in her fledgling career was secured with victory over Karolina Pliskova in the Nuremberg Cup back in May.

Her strongest challenge is likely to come from Ana Ivanovic who, like Bouchard, secured qualification for the WTA Finals this week.

The Serb got as far as the last four in Beijing before being ousted by Maria Sharapova, and the world number nine will be hoping to go one step further and reach the final in Austria a week on Sunday.

Ivanovic is bidding to become the first woman to win the tournament three times, following victories in 2008 and 2010.

The 26-year-old missed out on the chance to complete her hat-trick 12 months ago, going down 6-4 7-6 (8-6) to Kerber in the final.

Dominika Cibulkova, runner-up to Petra Kvitova in 2011, is another who will hope to impress, while fellow-top 20 competitors Andrea Petkovic and Carla Suarez Navarro will also be eyeing glory.

Eight-time tour finalist and 2013 Wimbledon runner-up Lisicki enters as a wildcard and could mount a strong challenge to the likes of Bouchard and Ivanovic.
