Tomic lost to compatriot John-Patrick Smith in the first round of the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships in Newport, Rhode Island on Monday.
Smith, ranked 156, took advantage of a distracted Tomic, winning 6-3 7-5 in 70 minutes.
Tomic was omitted from Australia's Davis Cup team - who face Kazakhstan this weekend - following a rant deemed "unacceptable" by TA 10 days ago.
After his defeat to Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon, the world number 25 said the governing body "are not supporting me, not respecting me" by asking him to pay for court hire ahead of the Brisbane International in January.
And relations between Tomic and the organisation seem unlikely to improve following the typo that TA blamed on a "clerical error".
A statement read: "Tennis Australia sincerely apologizes for the typo in the daily results service today.
"This has now been corrected and we wish both Bernard Tomic and JP Smith all the best in the Hall of Fame Championships in Newport.
"This unfortunate error has been widely circulated on social media and there is some discussion as to how such a mistake could occur.
"We have a very upset staff member who made a simple clerical error.
"There was no malicious intent."
Despite TA's contrition, Tomic and his family do not appear ready to let the mistake slide.
"Bernard has already been punished by his non-selection for the upcoming Davis Cup tie," Tomic's father John said in a statement to Fairfax Media published by the Sydney Morning Herald.
"Bernard accepted his sanction in a professional manner and was willing to move on. It seems TA have commenced living up to their threat.
"How typically childish and arrogant of TA to permit publication of such material and then expect to get away with it. We have no alternative but to refer the matter to our legal people for advice."
