Awkward post-match press conference leaves reporter red-faced

The 196cm Czech was left stunned, following his 6-3, 6-3, 6-2 defeat at the hands of Frenchman Gilles Simon in the fourth round of The Championships at Wimbledon.

But the most awkward part was yet to come, when during his post-match press conference, a reporter - clearly unaware that the Czech had gone down in straight sets - posed a question as to how Berdych was feeling heading into the quarterfinals.

It went down a little something like this:

MODERATOR: Questions, please.

Q: How do you feel after that match? Do you feel in good shape going into the quarterfinals?

BERDYCH: Sorry? Excuse me?

Q: Do you feel your form is good going into the quarterfinals?

MODERATOR: He lost. He's obviously got a lot of matches.

BERDYCH: Does he know right? Or is he trying to make fun of me?

Unsurprisingly, the reporter was quick to apologise to Berdych who was clearly unimpressed by the lack of knowledge shown by the journo.

It’s not the first time an incident of this nature has occurred, with a reporter congratulating Frenchman Nicolas Mahut following his first round loss at the French Open in 2014.
