The Nigerian teenager was the victor in the women's 53kilogramme division last Friday, following a Games-record lift of 196kg.

However, the 16-year-old subsequently provided an A sample that showed the presence of amiloride and hydrochlorothiazide, banned diuretics and masking agents under class s5 of the World Anti-Doping Agency's (WADA) prohibited list.

Amalaha was provisionally suspended as a result of the failed test.

The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) confirmed on Friday that a subsequent B sample has confirmed the results of the original test.

The CGF is now scheduled to meet later on Friday, with a decision likely to be taken on whether to rescind Amalaha's gold medal.
