Samantha Stosur's charmed run in Indian Wells has come to an end with a straight-sets loss to Jelena Jankovic in the semi-finals of the BNP Paribas Open.
The sixth-seeded Serb had no problems as she overcame Stosur 6-2 6-4.
Jankovic will now meet Caroline Wozniacki in the final after the Dane posted a solid 6-2 6-3 victory over fifth-seeded Pole Agnieszka Radwanska.
No.8 seed Stosur was broken on serve twice in the first set and again in the second as she fluffed her lines with 36 unforced errors in a match which lasted one hour 28 minutes.
Despite the loss, Stosur will become just the third Australian woman in the last 25 years to enter the world's top 10 when the new rankings are released on Monday.
"It has been a great week," Stosur told the WTA site.
"I played four really good matches. Today was a bit disappointing, but it's still my best result in a tournament like this. There's a lot to build on. I have to look at the positives."
Jankovic, who was two points away from losing in the third round to Sara Errani, looked in impressive form.
"The key to today's match was my return," Jankovic said.
"Samantha has an unbelievable serve, one of the best in the women's game, and I was able to return a lot of her first serves."
"I put a lot of pressure on her second serve, too. I was able to break her quite a few times and it made everything easier for me. I think she felt a little bit uncomfortable, because she really relies on that shot."
Wozniacki rarely looked troubled as she raced to her win over Radwanska in one hour 38 minutes.
Wozniacki held her nerve better on the big points, converting five of 10 break-point chances while saving seven of eight break-point opportunities against her.
