Belluci falls in Chile

Belluci falls in Chile

Brazilian Thomaz Bellucci was dumped out of the VTR Open by Argentina's Federico Delbonis in Santiago on Thursday.

The third seed was a surprise loser in the second round clash, with Delbonis triumphing 6-2 7-5 in just over 90 minutes.

Bellucci's downfall was his first serve as he landed just 46 percent of attempts throughout the match.

That gave Delbonis a regular opportunity to break serve, which he did on four occasions.

Carlos Berlocq also won in straight sets, thrashing Diego Junqueira 6-1 6-0 in an all-Argentine clash.

Berlocq was on court for just 62 minutes as he won 20 of 23 points on his first serve and made five breaks.

The other singles match of the day saw 2007 Australian Open finalist Fernando Gonzalez knocked out by Brazil's Joao Souza, who won 6-3 7-6 (8-6).
