Aussies sweep China

Australia completed a 5-0 clean sweep over China in the Asia-Oceania Davis Cup tie in Geelong on Sunday after Matthew Ebden and Chris Guccione both claimed straight-sets victories.

With Australia holding an unassailable 3-0 overnight lead, captain Pat Rafter took the chance to rest stars Lleyton Hewitt and Bernard Tomic.

But debutantes Ebden and Guccione didn't disappoint in the reverse singles.

Ebden stormed to victory over unheralded Ya-Nan Ma 6-4 6-2.

And Guccione celebrated his first Cup singles match since 2009 with a 6-2 6-2 win over Wu Di.

Australia's victory at the Geelong Lawn Tennis Club advances them to the final round of Asia-Oceania qualifying, in which they will host South Korea from April 6-8.

The winner advances to a World Group playoff clash in September.
