Lleyton Hewitt and Chris Guccione have eased to a straight-sets victory over their Chinese counterparts to open up an unassailable 3-0 lead in their Asia-Oceania Davis Cup tie in Geelong.
After rain delayed the start of the match, Hewitt and Guccione eventually took the court and wrapped up the 6-2 6-2 6-2 victory over China's Zhang Ze and Li Zhe in comprehensive style.
The Australian duo didn't drop a single service game during the rout and controlled the net with ease to outclass their opponents.
The reverse singles on Sunday will now be played as best-of-three-sets, with the lineups for both countries yet to be confirmed.
Australia are aiming to return to the 16-nation world group for the first time since 2007, which they will do if they defeat either Chinese Taipei or Korea in a tie to be played in April and then win another playoff in September.
