Wasps bid farewell to Adams Park in style

The two-time European champions are due to move the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, after financial troubles created the need to play at a larger stadium.

On Sunday, they bowed out in fine style by scoring seven tries to keep themselves well in the hunt for qualification from Pool Two.

Tom Varndell and Ben Jacobs both claimed a brace for the hosts, while Jake Cooper-Wooley, Nathan Hughes and Guy Thompson also crossed in a resounding victory.

The win leaves Wasps on 12 points from four matches, one behind Harlequins and Leinster, who are level at the top of the pool, and director of rugby Dai Young was thrilled with the result.

"That was a great way to say thank you to Adams Park, which has been our home for 12 years now," he said.

"It's goodbye to Adams Park but hopefully it's not goodbye to our supporters. We want to get as many of them to Coventry as possible.

"People want to watch big and meaningful games, so it's important stepping into our new chapter at the Ricoh Arena that we have these big occasions in January [in the final pool matches]."

In Pool One, Munster's hopes of reaching the knockout stages were dealt a significant blow as they fell to a second consecutive defeat at the hands of Clermont.

The Top-14 outfit triumphed 16-9 at Munster the previous weekend, and prevailed again in the return fixture, this time 26-19.

Two tries from Damien Chouly and one for Noa Nakaitaci set up the win for the hosts, although Munster did claim a losing bonus point courtesy of Ian Keatley's last-minute penalty.

Clermont top Pool One on 14 points, with Saracens and Munster one and four points adrift respectively.

Elsewhere, Scarlets defeated Ulster 22-13 at home to climb off the bottom of Pool Three, although they remain five points behind leaders and Heineken Cup champions Toulon.
