Talk of a hybrid clash between the Wallabies and Kangaroos seems to pop up every few months and Michael Cheika's men got some early practice on Sunday morning (AEDT) after they were reduced to 13 men.

Lock Dean Mumm was yellow carded in the 60th minute for taking out his opposite number in the lineout.

The problem was half-back Will Genia was already in the bin for a cynical foul of his own three minutes earlier.

Genia's crime was failing to get back the 10m after the Welsh took a quick tap.

Thankfully for Mumm and Genia their indiscretions didn't cost them as the 13-man Wallabies defended their line for seven minutes en route to a heroic 15-6 victory over the Welsh.
