Wallabies face hefty bill after damaging dressing room

Wallabies

The Irish Examiner newspaper broke the story this week, saying the damage done to doors and fittings in the Wallabies’ dressing-room amounted to “a few thousand dollars.”

Australia lost the closely contested match 26-23, a second three-point defeat in as many weeks, and are on the verge of recording their worst Spring Tour in almost a decade.

Reports claim a Wallabies staff member inflicted the damage, but the person in question is not said to be volatile coach Michael Cheika.

Cheika smashed a glass door in the coach’s box of Canberra Stadium during a Waratahs loss to the Brumbies earlier this year and has a six month suspended ban hovering over him after abusing a cameraman in South Africa in March.

An Australian team spokesman told the Examiner: “There was an accident after the match involving one of our support staff.

“We made the IRFU aware of this on the evening of the game and have offered our assistance in any way if required.”
