Vunipola cleared to face Clermont Auvergne

billyvunipola - CROPPED

Billy Vunipola is free to play in Saracens' European Rugby Champions Cup semi-final against Clermont Auvergne after having a citing complaint against him dismissed.

The 22-year-old was brought before a Rugby Football Union disciplinary panel accused of striking Leicester Tigers' Mathew Tait with his head as he charged into a ruck.

The incident occurred during last weekend's 22-6 Premiership victory over Tigers at Allianz Park.

However, the panel cleared the England international of any wrongdoing, clearing him to play in Saturday's fixture in St Etienne.

Tigers' Vereniki Goneva, meanwhile, was suspended for one week for striking Kelly Brown.

In further good news for Saracens, George Kruis has put pen to paper on a new long-term contract with the club.
