Toulouse missed out on a place in the European Champions Cup quarter-finals as Pool Four took a dramatic late twist on Sunday.
The Top 14 outfit only needed a draw at winless Montpellier to seal their progression, but lost 27-26 at Stade Yves-du-Manoir, while Bath, who will visit Leinster in the last eight, snatched top spot with a 20-15 victory over Glasgow Warriors.
Toulouse looked set for a win when Toby Flood converted his own try to move his side 11 points in front at the beginning of the second half, but Montpellier - inspired by Lucas Dupont - hit back.
The wing went over twice as the hosts racked up 18 second-half points to leave Toulouse hoping Saracens succumbed to a defeat by 35 points or more later in the day.
Unfortunately for Toulouse, Saracens only lost 18-6 at Clermont Auvergne, seeing the Allianz Park outfit through on points difference as the last of three best-placed runners-up.
Valiant Glasgow had started brightly in their closing pool fixture at the Recreation Ground, going ahead through a converted try from Alex Dunbar, but six points from the boot of Bath's George Ford saw the sides go in at half-time with little to separate them.
Richie Vernon touched down for Glasgow after a swift counter-attacking move, before a driving maul earned Bath a penalty try - Ford's resulting conversion putting the home side in front for the first time.
Finn Russell snatched back the lead with three points from the tee, but a second penalty try - this time from a scrum and converted by Ford - took Bath to their eventual total of 20.
The Premiership outfit had to be on their guard in the closing stages, though, as Sean Maitland came agonisingly close to crossing the whitewash for a try that would have seen Glasgow into the next round.
Clermont's victory ensured they finished top of Pool One and booked a quarter-final meeting with Northampton Saints, but Saracens - now set to face Racing Metro - edged through as runners-up.
Munster beat Sale Sharks 65-10 in a match that had no bearing on the outcome of the group, while Saracens' Owen Farrell and Bath's Kyle Eastmond added to England coach Stuart Lancaster's selection headache after picking up injuries.
The duo join Geoff Parling and Tom Wood - both injured on Saturday - as fresh doubts ahead of the start of the Six Nations.
Reigning European champions Toulon will meet Wasps in the quarter-finals after the Coventry-based outfit clung on to their position as one of the best-placed runners-up.
