Now, criticism of the 25-year-old has reached new heights after former Wallabies fullback Greg Martin labelled him an, “immature twat,” on Brisbane Radio.
O’Connor was released from the final year of his contract by the Queensland Reds early in the week due to personal reasons, following a disappointing campaign in the Super Rugby franchise last year.
Martin however, was scathing in his assessment of the European-bound O’Connor.
“The Justin Bieber of Australian rugby,” Martin told Triple M in Brisbane.
Taking particular offence to an incident between O’Connor and Reds teammate Adam Thomson last year, Martin pulled no punches in his critique.
“A little young punk with one of the greats of the modern game – Adam Thomson – having an argument on the field in front of the world? That says it all; who does he think he is?”
O’Connor is tipped to be heading back to French club Toulon following his time with the Reds, however his exact movements are yet to be confirmed.
