Leinster's Ruddock set to miss rest of season

Leinster back-row forward Rhys Ruddock looks set to miss the rest of the Pro12 campaign after undergoing surgery on a recurring arm injury.

Ruddock initially picked up the problem in December, missing 10 weeks of action.

He returned last month but has been forced to have an operation which saw a plate inserted to prevent further problems.

The problem could dash Ruddock's hopes of featuring for Ireland at the Rugby World Cup, which gets under way in September.

"Rhys unfortunately has a situation with his arm so he has had to have that re-fixed which means he is unlikely to feature for the remainder of the season," said Leinster forwards coach Leo Cullen.

"He was struggling when he came back and he got another bang on it. It's just one of those unfortunate ones.

"I don't know when he got this other bang on the arm but he has had to have it repaired and he has a plate in it. That's happened already."
