Kingspan Stadium gets the nod to stage 2015 Pro12 final

Kingspan Stadium - CROPPED

The 2015 Pro12 final will be staged at Belfast's Kingspan Stadium.

With a capacity of 18,000 and having undergone major redevelopment that was recently completed, Kingspan Stadium, home of Ulster, has been picked to play host to the showpiece on May 30.

Tournament organisers have opted to change the competition's format as the final has previously been held at the home stadium of the highest-placed team at the end of the regular season who has made it to the last two.

"Belfast is an inspiring host city and the new Kingspan Stadium is a state-of-the-art venue for the Pro12 final," said John Feehan, CEO of Pro12 Rugby.

"Given the development of the competition the time is right for a showcase event and we invited offers from all 12 clubs and their regions to host the Final.

"The tender from 'Team Belfast' was outstanding and was unanimously agreed as the chosen venue.

"Belfast excelled itself as the host city for our Pro12 season launch in 2013 and their plans for the city in the lead up to and around the Final are very exciting. "
