Burgess not thinking about World Cup

The 25-year-old was unveiled at Bath on Thursday after agreeing a three-year contract to switch codes from rugby league.

It was immediately suggested given Burgess' physical stature and ability that he could be involved in Stuart Lancaster's side for the World Cup in 2015, but the former South Sydney Rabbitohs forward is only interested in proving himself at club level for the time being.

"I'm really looking forward to the next few years," Burgess told Sky Sports News. "I think the main thing is to work hard at Bath, and see where that takes me.

"It's a bit far ahead [talk of an England call-up].

"What's important at the moment is playing good rugby for Bath."

Burgess brought the curtain down on his time in Australia's NRL with a man-of-the-match performance in the Grand Final against the Canterbury Bulldogs.

The Rabbitohs won 30-6, with Burgess playing most of the game with a fractured cheekbone, which he says is healing well.

"The injury coming on very well," he added.

"It has improved enormously over the last few weeks.

"In terms of being back fit I'm not too sure, the surgeon said whenever I feel good, so we'll just keep a close eye on it."
